A ROSEBUD West man was killed after a snowboarding accident at Mt Hotham yesterday.
It is believed the 36 year old was snowboarding when he lost control of his board and struck a tree on Bushwacker’s Run at 2.40pm.
A spokeswoman for Mt Hotham said the blue, intermediate run was rated as good conditions on the day by the ski patrol.
‘‘The run services primarily intermediate riders on a good terrain.
‘‘There are no trees on the actual run itself but a number of trees do line the side of the run, separating the various runs on the mountain.’’
The spokeswoman said it was a guest who first witnessed the incident and reported it to a lift operator who then notified the ski patrol.
The man had been staying on the mountain with friends.
Police said the death was not suspicious and that a report would be prepared for the coroner.
The blue run was open to skiers and snowboarders again this morning.
