PENINSULA Surfriders Club last weekend came third in this year's team titles at Jan Juc.
Torquay Boardriders won the event in small surf at Jan Juc, followed by Phillip Island with 13th Beach fourth.
Lachy McDonald, peninsula's president, said the fun, waist-high waves and "almost finals footy-like atmosphere provided the perfect start to the heckling and banter among the competing clubs".
"Last year's champs and event hosts Torquay was seeded straight to the final, meaning the other four clubs faced a repercharge to reach that stage.
"Three super heats - open, junior and masters - as well as two separate tag battles accumulated the overall points for Phillip Island, Peninsula, and 13th Beach to progress. Standout performances from Peninsula included Hayden Forrest's early domination of the junior super heat, Calum Nicolson's excellent scoring as the power surfer for team 1, and Georgia Fish bringing team 2 home with a powerful, backhand display."
McDonald said the outgoing tide created a lefthander that allowed Adam Morris to put on a "great display in the opening super heat of the final, narrowly being beaten by Carl Wright of Phillip Island".
Hayden Forrest and Mark Walker both came second in their super heats. Peninsula's first team came fourth, while the second team came second with consistent scoring from Liam Jolly and Georgia Fish backing up a strong power wave from Jack Winter.
