MORNINGTON Soccer Club's pre-season is well under way after what supporters say has been a gruelling off-season for the newly promoted side.
The Seagulls are tight-lipped about a number of rumoured signings of well-known State League players.
If half the rumours are true, and the players put ink to paper, it will be difficult to stop the club gaining its third promotion on the trot.
On top of signings the club will be looking to homegrown talent such as 17-year-old Dylan Waugh, who is quick and handy on the left, and 19-year-olds Nathan Yole and Sebastian Bill, who were standouts last season.
Coach Adam Jamieson said the increased pre-season workload would be the key to the club's continued success and he has been holding sessions at Mt Martha beach, Portsea and at the Tan.
"We went into last season a little underdone and it showed with some mixed results early," Jamieson said.
"Going up another level we can't afford this to happen again this year so the training intensity has lifted a gear and most of the guys are feeling the benefits already."
The Gulls play State League 2 side Thomastown in a practice match at Dallas Brooks Park, Mornington, on Saturday, March 6.
