Sting taken out of Bushrangers in TAC Cup clash

26 May, 2010 04:00 AM
THE Southern Stingrays' good form continued with a solid 40-point win over the in-form Murray Bushrangers at Norm Minns Oval, Wangaratta, in round seven of the TAC Cup on Saturday.

The Stingrays were a different side with six players rested for Vic Country under-18 duties and injuries to Jake Batchelor, Lachie Wallace, Jimmy Jennings, Jake Greeley and Stewart Damon.

The Stingrays dominated the first term to lead by 48 points at the first break after which the result was academic.

The Bushrangers came back in the second term and the second half was much closer with neither side able to dominate for any length of time.

This weekend is the first round of under-18 nationals with Vic Country taking on Vic Metro at the MCG at 9.50am on Sunday. Stingrays Luke Parker, Mitch Hallahan, Daniel Harrison Andrew McInnes and Tom Lynch made the initial team for Vic Country.
