Pines stand tall at home

PINES sits in third place on the MPNFL Peninsula League ladder, one of only three teams to remain undefeated.

The Pythons kicked away in the final term against Edithvale-Aspendale on Saturday to win handsomely, 16.10(106) to 11.13(79).

In other Peninsula League games, Langwarrin notched its first win under new coach Ash Charles, beating Mornington 14.14(98) to 6.3(39), Seaford also notched its first win of the season, beating Chelsea 15.15(104) to 6.13(49), Mt Eliza smashed Bonbeach by 75 points, 18.12(120) to 6.9(45), and on Friday night under lights at Frankston Park, Frankston YCW defeated Karingal 12.13(85) to 9.8(62).

Only three points separated Pines and Edithvale at three-quarter time at Eric Bell Reserve. The Pythons kicked 6.4 to 2.4 in the final term to win comfortably.

Ricky Ramsdale made it 10 goals in two weeks with five, while Jamie Messina snagged four goals and Harley Parker bagged three. Aaron Edmonds was the best of the Eagles, while Zac Muschialli and Josh Jewell also collected votes.

YCW kicked four goals to one in the last quarter in torrential rain to win by 23 points. Brendan Lade was a late withdrawal for the Bulls, which certainly didn't help with the team's structure and preparation.

It was the Stonecats' runners who proved to be the difference, Craig Nankervis, Stevey Roberts, Byron Barry and Lew Roberts dominating.

Robbie Clements and Brendan Dunne were the best of the Bulls.

Langwarrin booted six goals to one in the second quarter against Mornington and that was the end of the ball game.

Ash Moore was outstanding for the Kangas with five in a best-on-ground display, while Daniel Wehner and Jayden Grose dominated through the middle.

Dogs skipper Chris Paxino played a lone hand in attack with three and collected the top votes for his side.

Mt Eliza continued its dominating run, beating Bonbeach by more than 12 goals.

Grant Masterson snagged four and Kyle Docherty played one of his best games for the Mounties, kicking three. Mt Eliza had 10 goal kickers.

Pat Smith and Jackson Casey were the best of the Sharks.

Troubles for Chelsea got a lot worse on Saturday, restricted to four goals and smacked by Seaford. Seaford's Damien McCormack booted four, while and Matt Haverfield and Ollie Griffiths were dominant for the winners.
