After being humiliated by YCW and then losing to Chelsea the following week, the wheels appeared to have fallen off for the Redlegs.

However, in successive weeks, the Mounties have touched up Edithvale and then beaten the Tigers, the side many believed was the biggest threat to YCW.

The Redlegs have now beaten Seaford twice this season and if they can beat Karingal in the final home and away game of the season, will head into finals as the Stonecats' biggest challenger.

It should be pointed out that the Stonecats have smashed Mt Eliza twice this season but winning form is good form and the Redlegs booted 5.8 to 0.1 in the final term to over-run the Tigers to win by 34 points, 15.17 (107) to 9.9 (63). Scott Lockwood and Luke Peel kicked three each for the Mounties and Lloyd Williams and Rob D'Orazio dominated across half-back. Ben Goddard and Jarrod Irving were the best of the Tigers.

Chelsea was held goalless in three of its four quarters against Frankston YCW.

Byron Barry was left without a man and did whatever he liked, Ash Eames floated into the backline to cut off anything that came near him, and Stevie Roberts and Ben Poole racked up possessions at will.

Pines beat Mornington by seven goals in a fiery encounter, Shaun White kicking four and Anthony Craddock three, and Steve Taylor and Adam Marriner dominating. Langwarrin led all day to beat Edithvale-Aspendale and coach Ash Charles was on the ground to celebrate, having made his debut with the club.

Karingal smashed Bonbeach on Saturday, proving once again there is a fair gap between the top four and the teams outside the top bracket.

The Bulls will be hoping to beat Mt Eliza this weekend for the double chance. Seaford plays Langwarrin and will win. The loser between the Redlegs and Bulls will face Chelsea in an elimination final.
