FOR the first time this season, the top five looks to be set in MPNFL Peninsula Division.
The form side of the competition is Chelsea and it slipped into the top bracket for the first time after getting over the top of Mornington is an enthralling contest.
The Seagulls took the place of Langwarrin, which was outplayed by an undermanned Mt Eliza at Wooralla Drive. Pines are shot after copping yet another thrashing, this time at the hands of Seaford, and Bonbeach is at long odds after YCW gave it a touch up.
Karingal went into its match against Edithvale-Aspendale without Brendon Lade but still managed to come away with a solid victory.
While the battle for the double chance remains among the top four (Mt Eliza, YCW, Seaford and Karingal), it really does appear that the fifth-best side is now occupying fifth place. The Gulls were embarrassingly bad at the beginning of the season but things have clicked in the past six weeks and they have won five of those games, starting with an unlikely win against YCW in round eight.
The Gulls were challenged in a high-scoring game against Mornington on Saturday.
Only six points separated the sides at the last change before Chelsea booted nine goals to three in the last to win 28.12 (168) to 18.15 (123). Chris Worner kicked eight.
Karingal kicked clear of Edi-Asp in the second quarter and maintained a stranglehold on the game, winning by 54 points, 18.12(120) to 9.12(66).
Mt Eliza had to work hard for the four points against Langwarrin but did so by winning 17.13 (115) to 10.10(70). Grant Masterson was clearly best on ground with nine goals for the Redlegs. Frankston YCW booted six goals to one in the first quarter against Bonbeach and it was enough to record a 13.21(99) to 7.9(51) victory.
Seaford put through 14 goals in the first half and 11 in the second hour to smack Pines by more than 100 points.
