Grand brekky for AFL's big day

09 Sep, 2009 01:18 PM
GRAND final fever is in the air and Mornington's St Macartan's Parish is organising a breakfast for the big day.

The inaugural breakfast last year on grand final day attracted representatives of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, Southern Umpires Association, South Mornington women's team and Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League, and a similar line-up is on the bill for 2009, including a recruit spotter for an AFL team.

Highlights will include simultaneous functions for adults and juniors, who will be fully supervised so adults can relax and enjoy the morning, organiser Geoffrey Lane said.

"We'll have videos, games, handball competition, musical entertainment and a panel discussion, with Finn the Dolphin from the Frankston Dolphins VFL team on the panel."

More than 100 adults and 50 children are expected to attend.

St Macartan's grand final breakfast is on from 9am-noon, Saturday, September 26, at Peninsula Community Theatre, Wilsons Road, Mornington. Breakfast served at 9.30. Cost: Adults $20, first child $5 with others free, families $45. Details and bookings: 5973 4774 or

0438 350 316.
