Breakers tackle Chelsea in final

18 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
MORNINGTON Breakers will take on Chelsea in the grand final of the men's division 2 basketball competition this week after defeating Latrobe City 3-2 in the semi-final play-off at Mornington on the weekend.

Latrobe Energy levelled the men's division 2 semi-final series on Saturday night, beating the Breakers 102-98, forcing game three on Sunday, which was won by the Breakers 82-77.

On Saturday night with scores level and the clock showed two minutes to play, both squads had everything to play for at Mornington.

One game down, the Energy flame lit up and it stole the game by four points, getting it done down the stretch and forcing a third game.

This was always going to be anyone's game and it certainly lived up to its potential. With the lead going back and forth for the entire match, it was the Breakers who booked their spot in the D2M grand final series.
