Take a tour, discover the past

PARKS Victoria is offering a range of school holiday programs at Point Nepean National Park from this week, including junior park ranger dicovery walks and officer cadet training.

Children and parents can tour of the quarantine station with a Parks ranger and be entertained by the stories of early immigrants.

The officer cadet program at Portsea allows participants to discover the daily rigour and routine of early military life, including how to perform drills and team-building activities.

The hour-long program, for children aged 6-12, runs daily at 2.15 from the quarantine station.

The junior rangers tour includes a 90-minute walk through the former range area where children can discover native flora and fauna and the remnants the army left behind. This is also suitable for children aged 6-12, who need to bring bring sturdy shoes, water and a snack.
