MORNINGTON triumphed in the fashion stakes as well as the racing honours at Sunday's Peninsula Cup.
While Mornington trainer Peter White, who is also managing owner of the Peninsula Cup winner Jungle Ruler, was celebrating his win, Mornington resident Naomi Davis was basking in the glory of being named the winner of headpiece of the day and overall winner of the fashions on the field.
Despite the rain, there was a strong field of contenders who weren't going to let a little dampness rain on their fashion parade. And in a surprise for the audience, a man with a distinct Marilyn Monroe look jumped on the stage, winning applause for his bravery, if not his fashion sense.
The other winners were:
■ Best dressed couple: Sasha Romen-
sky and Madelyn Collopy (Glen Iris).
■ Man of the day: Nathan Dunn (Cranbourne).
■ Best young contemporary female: Jess Coad (Newstead, Tasmania).
■ Elegant lady of the day: Carol Hendrick (Black Rock).
