No time to travel

01 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
FANS of Doctor Who could be forgiven for thinking they were on the set of the popular science fiction television series if they visited a certain backyard in Balnarring.

Signwriter and Balnarring resident Derek Warner made a full-sized replica of the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) time travelling machine - featured in the series - for a friend's 50th birthday two years ago and it is still sitting in his mate's backyard.

Mr Warner said it was especially fun to build the replica as he was a Doctor Who fan. "It took five weeks to build and six men to lift it from the trailer onto the property. It brought back childhood memories when I was making it."
