New Mt Martha venue off to a flying start

23 Nov, 2011 03:00 AM
A new late-night venue is turning heads in Mt Martha.

Offering a mixture of bar and restaurant-style dining, Venue 42 officially opened last week and is already doing a roaring trade.

Locals have embraced the bar on the beach front, started by Josh and Jane Ting in partnership with Martyn and Lisa Baker, who own Mt Martha Fine Foods.

"Mt Martha has been craving a late-night venue to save locals having to drive to Mornington to enjoy a night out," Mrs Ting said.

"We have an eclectic mix of tapas-style food in a casual setting. It is like an extension of your living room. We have comfy sofas and a bar for people to have after work drinks or a nice meal."

Mrs Ting said while the venue was tailored for the 30-plus age group, all were welcome.

"Whether you are coming in for a nice glass of wine or a coffee we have a great something to suit everyone. There are lots of coffee shops but we wanted to do something different that would appeal to a broader age group."

Venue 42 is open seven days a week from 8am until late.
