Jockey injured at Balnarring races

01 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
Paramedics treated a jockey for serious injuries after he fell from a horse during a race at the Balnarring picnic races on Australia Day.

Advanced life support paramedics were called to the course just after 5pm. Paramedic Lisa Pliksh said that when they arrived they were told that the 34-year-old man had been riding at a considerable speed.

"Witnesses told us that he landed head-first on the ground and that the horse then rolled on top of him," she said.
