A man used his mobile phone to call for help after his jet ski lost power near Port Phillip Heads last month.
The 45-year-old had been transporting his friends from Mud Island, 7.5 kilometres from Sorrento, where they had been kite surfing.
The three friends were left stranded on the island until rescue crews arrived.
