MORNINGTON Peninsula residents can take advantage of the shire's popular free green waste disposal offer on Saturday and Sunday at waste transfer stations in Mornington, Tyabb and Rye.
Mayor Graham Pittock said the shire hoped to encourage the reduction of fire fuel loads around homes.
Residents and ratepayers can take domestic quantities of green waste for mulching and use by shire contractors and also for purchase by residents.
Green waste, including all types of garden waste and untreated timber less than 400 millimetres in diameter, will only be accepted from domestic-sized vehicles and trailers and proof of shire residency such as driver's licence or rates notice is required.
Transfer stations in McKirdys Road, Tyabb; Truemans Road, Rye; and Watt Road, Mornington, will be open from 8am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
There are expected to be delays at Mornington, where the maximum load is three cubic metres of green waste per trip, and residents are encouraged to try Tyabb to avoid delays.
