Festival day with the lot

20 Jan, 2010 11:48 AM

A LOT of people had a lot of fun at the inaugural Hot Barbeque music festival at Point Nepean on Saturday.

The weather was more than kind to the promoter, Future Entertainment, blessing the relocation of the event from Birrarung Marr on the banks of the Yarra River to the pointy end of the Mornington Peninsula.

An estimated 10,000 festival fans trekked the full length of Point Nepean Road to be sussed, sniffed and searched as they filed through the gates for 10 hours of entertainment on four stages - Fried Onion, Lamb Chop, Mixed Grill and Coleslaw.

There were plenty of teens but most of the throng would have been 20-something.

From the entry gate, music could be simultaneously heard from all four stages, each one seemingly louder than the other. For generation X and Y, this was fine dining.

Up closer, each stage satisfied a different appetite.
