Call out for tree day volunteers

28 Jul, 2010 12:00 AM
ROSEBUD West is just one location where peninsula residents can do their bit on National Tree Day on Sunday.

Friends of Chinaman's Creek are holding a tree planting for the skink link project from 9.30am- 12.30pm at Drum Drum Alloc Creek, Rosebud Industrial Estate, at the end of Newington Avenue.

A barbecue will follow at the ranger's office at the Capel Sound foreshore. Details: Norm McKinlay, 59852844.

Helpers are still needed by Friends of Warringine Park for a tree day planting at the park. Meet at 9am at the entrance at the end of Salmon Street, Hastings. A barbecue will follow. Details: Dave, 5983 0130 or Gerard, 0400 978 325

National Tree Day shows children how fun and easy it is to help our environment.

Last year, more than 312,000 people at 3500 sites dug deep to improve their natural surroundings.
