Business bonanza as Woolies, Aldi move in

24 Feb, 2010 12:00 AM
MORNINGTON will get a Woolworths hardware store and Rye an Aldi supermarket after Planning Minister Justin Madden fast-tracked planning assessments for about $200million worth of retail stores across Victoria.

Mr Madden said 3000 jobs would be created statewide and that he would appoint two advisory panels to deal with the construction of the five Aldi and 12 Woolworths hardware stores.

"Consultation with local councils and adjoining residents will occur as part of the advisory committee process," Mr Madden said. "Securing these major retail developments is a major boost to the Victorian economy and provides for future employment options in Victoria."
